SAHM turned Business Owner
The stay at home mom turned full time nail tech! What started as just a hobby in my living room and a chance to have some “me time” by making myself pretty turned into a dream I never imagined!
Kevondria Dupuis, owner of Magnolia Gels, shares how she found her passion while being a mom
Hello, my name is Kevondria and I’m a nail tech local to the Acadiana area! I started this business, Magnolia Gels, a little over a year ago.
What inspired me?
That’s honestly a question that’s hard for me to answer because I’ve never had a clue I’d want to do nails. When I became a mom, my purpose outside of that kind of became blurry and I was always asking myself “what do you want to do besides being a mom?” I tried so many different things but nothing could stick. That was until I started to get into my “DIY era” and I started to do my nails at home. Quickly I found the love for trying new designs and started changing my nails almost weekly. I thought, why not just put this creative energy onto someone else’s hands? So I started asking family and neighbors can I just “practice” on them.
What started as practicing on friends and family, turned into others asking me to practice on them.
And let’s just say I’ve been practicing ever since.
Weeks went by, months went by and well, a year went by and HERE I AM. I found a love and passion for doing nails, and I honestly couldn’t imagine myself not doing them. If there’s any advice I could give, it would be to give that lil’ dream a chance. If there’s something you wanna try but you’re afraid you may not be good at it, still give it a chance!
What’s for you, will be for you, but you have to give it a try!
